Efforts to imagine and install the first traffic gardens in Oregon are well underway!
The ODOT project team is working with the communities of Odell, Corvallis, and Eugene on traffic garden projects. The projects in Eugene and Odell are design only, while the project in Corvallis comprises of design and installation of a surface-applied traffic garden. The project team has visited each community, where they visited the site and met with interested community members, the project team, and students, all providing guidance and vision for the future traffic garden. Following these site visits, the team has begun drafting traffic garden layouts. For the Corvallis project, the project team will be on-site again in August for installation, where they will install a traffic garden that includes lane striping, crosswalks, stenciled pavement markings, and green bike lanes. The ODOT Traffic Garden Pilot Program will wrap up in September 2025.
